NEW plans to bring a wind technology firm’s headquarters back to the county look set to be approved when councillors meet next week. Leading wind measuring company ZX Lidars has revealed plans to move its headquarters back to the county it originated from as part of an expansion of Willow End Business Park near Malvern. A report by council planning officers, which will be discussed by Malvern Hills District Council s planning committee at a meeting next Wednesday (April 21) has recommended the plan is approved. The firm, which makes technology which is used by on-and-offshore wind turbines and farms, is currently based near Ledbury and has earmarked Willow End as the sites for its new 5,000 square metre home for research and development following a two-year search.
A BOOK has been published bringing to life the past of a county house dating back to the 13th century. Barton Court sits on the edge of Colwall between Ledbury and Malvern and is now a country house with rooms on site available for weekend getaways and corporate events. George Demidowicz, a buildings and landscape historian from Malvern, took two years to put ‘A History of Barton Court Colwall’ together, discovering facts revealed outshone the legends gathered over the years, gathering together pieces of the history from as far away as America and Australia. Mr Demidowicz said: “Henry Lambert was said to have rebuilt the house in the late 18th century, according to legend, to please his wife but we found out his wife died long before the rebuild so that wasn’t true.
