Deputy President David Mabuza today Friday, 21 May 2021 undertook a follow-up oversight visit to the Maluti-a-Phofung Local Municipality, Phuthaditjhaba in the Free State Province. The Deputy President was accompanied by the Premier of the Free State, Ms Sisi Ntombela, Deputy Minister of COGTA, Mr Obed Bapela and MEC of COGTA, Mr Thembeni Nxangisa. This visit by the Deputy President was the second in a period of two months demonstrating the urgency on which service delivery matters of Maluti-a-Phofung municipality must be addressed as he committed to the National Council of Provinces and National Assembly respectively. The oversight visit was characterised in essence by the engagement with the role players across the three spheres of government and the representatives of Maluti-a-Phofung community structures.

BLOEMFONTEIN - Eskom will take over the electricity distribution of one of its biggest debtors, the Maluti-a-Phofung Local Municipality in the Free State.
It follows another oversight visit from Deputy President David Mabuza, who s looked into the water and electricity challenges in the area.

Deputy President David Mabuza is confident that the people of Phuthaditjhaba in the Free State will soon have their water and electricity challenges resolved.
Deputy President Mabuza made these remarks during an oversight visit to Phuthaditjhaba which is located in the Maluti-a-Phofung Local Municipality.
“We are here because of the challenges that are experienced by the local communities and this municipality. We are here to deal with the challenges that are experienced by the people in this area,” Mabuza said on Tuesday.
He said plans and presentations made to him by municipal and the various stakeholders indicate that work towards ensuring that there is water and electricity is underway.
