No injuries after vehicle rolls onto side in two-vehicle crash in Timaru

An SUV towing a trailer rolled onto its side in a collision with a car at the intersection of Maltby Ave and Otipua Rd, in Timaru, on Wednesday afternoon. A Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesman said it was a minor motor vehicle crash and no-one was trapped, with St John adding there were no injuries. Valentina Bellomo/Stuff Fire and Emergency NZ and police inspect the crash scene at the Otipua Rd-Maltby Ave intersection. He said Fire and Emergency NZ assisted police and ambulance at the incident which occurred about 2pm.

High hopes for Hospice South Canterbury Old Bags fundraiser

Organisers of the second Old Bags Lunch are hoping to top the fundraising efforts of their first such event, and are counting on attendees to dust off their spare handbags to help. The Old Bags Lunch is a Hospice South Canterbury fundraiser which sees participants bring a handbag each to sell, and then they get the opportunity to buy one or bid in an auction for a designer bag. Hospice South Canterbury marketing and events manager Jeanna Munro said they ran a similar event in 2015 and raised $6000, but hoped to raise more this time.
