In April, world number one pianist, Martha Argerich, will open the InClassica International Music Festival in Malta (one of the major classical music events in Europe) in a duet with the renowned Swiss violinist, Maria Solozobova. Their concert programme will include “Seascapes” by the festival’s resident composer, Alexey Shor, and Prokofiev’s “Second Sonata in D major”, which was originally written for flute and piano but rearranged for the violin with help from David Oistrakh. In this interview, the violinist talks about her amazing duet with legendary Martha Argerich, Alexey Shor’s varied music, unconventional teaching methods and two coinciding anniversaries.

The localities of Valleta, Floriana, and Rabat are preparing to play host to the inaugural edition of the Malta Classical Music Academy (MCMA) between the 17th of April and 11th of May, while simultaneously acting as the landing ground for the 10th edition of the globally-renowned InClassica Malta International Music Festival, both of which are being organised by the European Foundation for Support of Culture (EUFSC).

This April, the InClassica International Music Festival will open its doors with a grand opening concert featuring legendary Argentine-Swiss pianist, Martha Argerich, and Swiss violinist, Maria Solozobova.
This concert represents a rare opportunity to hear Argerich perform live in Malta, and lends an auspicious air to the opening of the InClassica festival, the largest of its kind to take place in Malta and the first large-scale festival of classical music to take place in Europe since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic.
European Foundation for Support of Culture to host three-week International Classical Music Academy featuring renowned professors
From April 17 to May 11, Malta is set to be transformed into a classical music capital, with Valletta, Floriana and Rabat playing host to the newly launched Malta Classical Music Academy (MCMA) which will coincide with the 10th anniversary of the annual, world-renowned InClassica Malta International Music Festival organised by the European Foundation for Support of Culture (EUFSC).
The Academy will be incorporating all the educational events and masterclasses that used to form part of the InClassica into a separate event that will run alongside the festival, providing a tremendous opportunity for young musicians who wish to develop their abilities under world-class tutelage.
