here is peter doocy with the details. where is sarah now. right now, 13-year-old sarah maynard who is alive is in a hospital recovering from what is being described as a nonlife threatening condition. there was a combination of good work and tips that led an s.w.a.t. team to 30-year-old matthew hoffman s house today where they were hoping to recover sarah, mother, brother cody and friend stephanie sprang and there was no sign of them, but they did find sarah bound and gagged in the basement and the sheriff wouldn t say what she was tied up with, but made clear that she was restricted in a way that prevented her from crying for help while her rescue was underway. they believe she was kidnapped by hoffman sometime the middle of last week. we would estimate that she s been under the control of mr. hoffman since wednesday. aen in one form or another, and that one location or another. and that suspect, matthew hoffman has been charged with one count of kidnapping and the she
