Media’s role critical for improving health governance Islamabad February 2, 2021 Islamabad:A five-day workshop for health journalists, organsied by the Trust for Democratic Education and Accountability (TDEA) in collaboration with the Ministry of National Health Services concluded at Bhurban on Sunday with a resolve to promote information-sharing, establish a network of health journalists, advocate for recognition of health care as a basic human right in the Constitution, and ensure access to authentic information to improve the quality of health journalism in Pakistan. A total of 23 journalists representing different media groups from all four provinces and the Islamabad Capital Territory attended the workshop that ran from January 27-31. President Arif Alvi Chairs Meeting on Assistive Technology December 17, 2020 ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Dr. Arif Alvi has emphasized the need for undertaking all possible measures to extend benefits of the modern-day technology to differently-abled people and those affected by the rising incidence of non-communicable diseases. While chairing a meeting on Assistive Technology at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad on Thursday, the president said that improving access to Assistive Technology (AT) for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) would greatly help in addressing the challenges being faced by them. The meeting was attended by the WHO Country Representative/Head of Mission Dr. Palitha Mahipala, the Technical Advisor WHO Dr. Maryam Mallick, the Managing Director Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal Aon Abbas Buppi, and the Director General (Health) at the Ministry of National Health Services Dr. Malik Muhammad Safi.
