PESHAWAR: The prime minister’s special assistant, Shahzad Akbar, on Thursday tendered an unconditional verbal apology to the Peshawar High Court expressing regret for his remarks against the head of a special court, which awarded death sentence to former military ruler retired General Pervez Musharraf for high treason in 2019.
A bench consisting of Justice Roohul Amin Khan and Justice Syed M Attique Shah directed him to submit a written affidavit about his apology in two identical contempt petitions filed against him, federal ministers Farogh Naseem and Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, former special assistant to the prime minister Firdous Ashiq Awan and former attorney general Anwar Mansoor Khan.

PESHAWAR: Federal law minister Barrister Farogh Naseem told the Peshawar High Court on Wednesday that he held all courts in high esteem and regretted his diatribe against the head of a special court, which sentenced former military ruler retired General Pervez Musharraf to death in 2019 for high treason.
A bench consisting of Justice Roohul Amin Khan Chamkani and Justice Mohammad Nasir Mehfooz exempted the minister from personal appearance until further orders in two identical petitions seeking his (Farogh’s) prosecution along with current special assistant to the prime minister Mirza Shahzad Akbar and former aide to the premier Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan for ‘committing contempt’ of the special court after the conviction of the former army chief.

PESHAWAR: The Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Wednesday exempted Federal Minister for Law Farogh Naseem from personally appearing at the next hearings but issued notices to two other cabinet members for speaking at apress conference after the verdict of the special court that awarded death sentence to former president General (R) Pervez Musharraf.
Farogh Naseem on Wednesday appeared before the divisional bench comprising Justice Roohul Amin and Justice Nasir Mahfooz and regretted his statement. He told the bench that he respected the court and the judges. The court exempted him from personally appearing before the court at next hearings.
