In December 2020, former Malibu City Council Member Jefferson “Zuma Jay” Wagner announced an affidavit that detailed alleged corruption within the City of Malibu. Those implicated in the allegations have denied any wrongdoing and, eight weeks out, evidence has not yet emerged to back up Wagner’s claims.
Among those was the allegation that former Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa, current Malibu City Manager Reva Feldman, and Simon and Daniel Mani (Mani Brothers), the real estate moguls who own Malibu Beach Inn, were tangled up in a 2018 dirty deal.
âThis weekend, Jefferson Wagner executed an
affidavit that summarized various incidents that he witnessed, heard about, and/or has been told about that evidence criminal activity and potential corruption within the City of Malibu at the highest levels,â newly-elected Malibu City Council Member Bruce Silverstein said during his swearing-in remarks at the Monday, Dec. 14, city council meeting.Â
The announcement came as Council Member Jefferson âZuma Jayâ Wagner was âterming outâ of his post after two non-consecutive terms (2008-12 and 2016-20) on the cityâs governing board, to be replaced by Silverstein and two other new council membersâSteve Uhring and Paul Grisanti.Â
The installation of speed humps on Dume Drive and Fernhill Drive from Grayfox Street to Cliffside Drive was slated to begin on Monday, Dec. 14, according to a notice shared by Malibu City Manager Reva Feldman in her weekly message on Friday, Dec. 4.
Malibu City Council awarded the construction contract to J&H Engineering one month ago, on Monday, Nov. 9.Â
