In the shadow of the Eastern Cape’s education headquarters lies a badly dilapidated school that, despite its proximity to the department that funds and runs it, has been unable to have repairs done to properly serve its pupils. Xolani Senior Secondary School has among the worst infrastructure of the province’s schools its buildings are horribly run down and it lacks proper sanitation facilities.
The Eastern Cape education department says preparations to supply schools with textbooks and stationery for 2024 are well under way and it is targeting to wrap up delivery by the end of November.
