As part of its new move to regulate social media, the Federal Government has said Twitter, Facebook and other social media giants doing business in Nigeria must register in the country before being allowed to operate unhindered.

Court joins MURIC in suit challenging Arabic inscription on Naira, Army flag
MURIC now joins the list of the defendants which originally comprised the CBN, Nigerian Army, Ministry of Defence and the Attorney-General of the Federation.
The Federal High Court in Lagos on Tuesday made an order joining the
Muslim Rights Concern Association (MURIC) in a suit challenging the Arabic inscription on the Naira note and the logo of the Nigerian Army flag.
The judge, Mohammed Liman, ordered MURIC and its Director, Ishaq Akintola, to be joined as defendants in the suit.
The lawyer to Mr Akintola, Adewale Alabi, and MURC’s lawyer, Emmanuel Ogunlowo, had moved their clients’ joinder applications.
The News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) reports that
Omirhobo sued the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) alongside others over alleged coercion on citizens to link their NIN within a stipulated time frame, without adherence to Covid 19 protocols.
Joined as defendants in the suit are the Attorney General of the Federation, Minister of Communications and Digital Economy; Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC); the DG NIMC, and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).
Other defendants are: MTN Nigeria Communications Plc; GLOBACOM Ltd; Airtel Networks Ltd (Airtel Nigeria) and the Emerging Markets Telecommunication Services Ltd, EMTS 9 Mobile.
The applicant who is suing for himself and on behalf of the Nigerian public, brought his suit under the provisions of the fundamental rights enforcement rules enshrined in the 1999 constitution.
