PENSACOLA, Fla. – Norchad Omier collected his second double-double in as many days, but it was not quite enough as Georgia State held off Arkansas State men’s basketball for a 71-68 win in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament quarterfinals Saturday night at the Pensacola Bay Center.
Omier scored 16 points and collected 18 rebounds to lead the Red Wolves (11-13), who held a four-point lead with two minutes to go, but the East No. 1 seed Panthers (15-5) scored seven straight to close out the contest and advance to the tournament semifinals. The performance was the freshman’s 15

JONESBORO, Ark. – The Arkansas State men’s basketball team completed a two-game-weekend sweep of Louisiana on Saturday, topping the Ragin’ Cajuns 83-77 at First National Bank arena behind the strength of five players scoring in double figures.
A-State won for the third time over its last four outings, improving to 8-9 overall and 5-5 in Sun Belt Conference action. Entering the weekend on a five-game winning streak, Louisiana saw its overall record move to 13-6 overall and 7-5 in league play.
A-State was led by two players posting a double-double, including senior guard Marquis Eaton and freshman forward Norchad Omier. Posting 15 points and a career-tying 10 assists, Eaton finished the weekend with a combined 47 points and 19 assists. Omier collected his 10th double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while also adding three blocks.
Marquis Eaton had a career-high 32 points as Arkansas State defeated Louisiana-Lafayette 95-87 on Friday night. Eaton made 8 of 10 shots and converted 13 of 14 free throws. He added nine assists.
