KOTA KINABALU: Consumers need not worry about the status of meat imported into Sabah, says state Agriculture and Fisheries minister Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan (pic).
He said Sabah has been monitoring the issue of cartels reportedly importing fake halal meat into the country.
‘I am aware that the people of Sabah are also worried about whether such illegal activity is taking place here, especially because the cartel has reportedly been running for over 40 years,” he said.
Jeffrey said Sabahans, however, do not need to worry because the situation here is a little different as the state has the authority to regulate the import and export of animals and animal products under the Animal Enactment 2015.
