The Malaysian Cooperative Commission (SKM) in Sabah is actively promoting the State-level National Cooperative Day Celebration in conjunction with the cooperatives’ 100th Anniversary.
From June 3 to 5, the celebration themed “100 Tahun Gerakan Koperasi Membangun Keluarga Malaysia” will be held at the Palm Square, Centre Point Shopping Complex, here.
Sabah SKM Director, Matias Kundapin, said the celebration is held to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the cooperative industry with the first co-operative registered, Syarikat Bekerjasama-sama Jimat Cermat dan Pinjaman Wang Pekerja-Pekerja, Jabatan Pos and Telekom Berhad on July 21, 1922.
As for Sabah, he said, the first cooperative to be registered was The Lubak Co-operative Stock Rearing Society Limited on April 20, 1959
