Unite and avoid enmity, Saravanan urges Indian-based NGOs

15 Apr 2021 / 07:50 H. -Bernama KUALA LUMPUR: MIC Deputy President Datuk Seri M.Saravanan (pix) today called on all Indian-based non-governmental organisations (NGOs) in the country to unite in the interest of future generations. He said NGO leaders should discuss and resolve issues, including those concerning languages and the Hindu religion. “We (Indian community) number about two million in Malaysia. NGOs need to think about unity among the Indian community and to avoid enmity,” he told Bernama after attending the Tamil Puthandu Kondatam event at the Kalamandabam Hall here, yesterday. He was commenting on the issue of several Indian NGOs debating whether the ‘Thai’ month or ‘Chittrai’, according to the Tamil Calendar, should be celebrated as the Tamil New Year.

Financial aid for two pupils until they get their degrees

ARAVINTHAN THE school board of SJK(T) Jalan Lobak in Seremban will provide financial aid to two pupils from poor families for their education all the way to tertiary level, Makkal Osai reported. The board chairman Jeyakumar Muniandy said Suhasini Rajachandran and Sharveshini Subramaniam had achieved excellent results in UPSR in 2017 and 2018. He added that to ensure that their families’ financial situation does not affect their education, the board has been giving the girls RM1,200 each a year since then to help with their expenses. He expressed hope that the students will continue to excel in their education and make their family and primary school proud, after he handed over cheques for RM2,400 covering 2020 and 2021 to each of their mothers.
