Published May 6, 2021 12:29am A second Catholic priest has died due to the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in the diocese of Malaybalay in Bukidnon province, according to a report posted on the Catholic Bishop s Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) website. Fr. Pablo Salengua, 67, passed away while confined in a hospital in Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental. He was the parish priest of the Sts. Peter and Paul church in Dalirig, Manolo Fortich in the province Bukidnon. In a statement, the Malaybalay Diocese enjoins everyone to pray for the repose of his soul.” Earlier this week, the same diocese reported the death of 61-year old Fr. Diomedes Brigoli due to illness related to COVID-19 last May 1.

A Catholic priest has been shot dead near a Carmelite monastery in Bukidnon province in the southern Philippine region of Mindanao.
The body of Father Rene Regalado, 42, was found near his car in Malaybalay City on Jan. 24. He had been shot in the head.
Malaybalay Diocese said it had received reports that churchgoers had heard gunshots around 7.30pm, adding it took at least an hour for police to arrive at the scene.
