Malawi - Blantyre Derby called off because of COVID-19
The 67th âBlantyre derbyâ for the 2020/21 TNM Malawi Super League campaign has been postponed due to coronavirus outbreak in the camp of Nyasa Big Bullets FC.
The defending champions Bullets and rivals Be Forward Wanderers were set to meet on 2 January 2021 at Kamuzu Stadium, Blantyre.
However, the Super League of Malawi (SULOM) announced the postponement of the game.
SULOM said 10 Nyasa Big Bullets squad members and one official have tested positive for COVID-19.
âBased on strong medical advice the League has received, in consultation with both clubs, [we] have decided to postpone the fixture as 28 percent of the registered team members of Bullets are in isolation due to COVID-19 which includes two of their goalkeepers who join another goalkeeper on the injury list (total three goalkeepers either sick or injured),â SULOM said.
