Officials from the Padre Island National Seashore aren't messing around with inebriated drivers this holiday weekend. The park will set up a sobriety checkpoint this.
Padre Island National Seashore wants the public to know it has two wheelchairs available for beach use.
Kelly Taylor told MySA.com the wheelchairs have been around for several years and have been used often. However, she added they posted the news on its Facebook page earlier this week to inform followers who may not be aware of the chairs.
The large, rubber-wheeled chairs are free and first-come, first-serve, Taylor said. She added that the chairs are only available for Malaquite Beach (so you can t take them to other areas).
Beachgoers can grab the chairs at the Malaquite Visitor Center from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. While a beach wheelchair is loaned at no cost, PINS ask for a driver s license to hold until it has been returned. Malaquite Beach is accessible from the Visitor Center boardwalk.
