After nearly 20 years of an uneasy ceasefire precipitated by legal action, the U.S. Department of Defense and Army have committed to permanently end live-fire training at the Makua Military Reservation (MMR).

Army firefighters have responded to a wildfire burning on the Makua Military Reservation. The fire began on August 19, 2022 around 12:30 p.m. around the south ridge of the reservation.
