The plan is to boost the Lagos-Kano-Jibiya (LAKAJI) economic corridor, which both the World Bank and the US have been highlighting.
As far back as 2016, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID)/Nigeria, in partnership with the West Africa Borderless Alliance, hosted a road governance caravan on the southern segment of the Lagos-Kano-Jibiya (LAKAJI) transport corridor.
The caravan started in Lagos, passed through Ogun and Oyo, and ended in Kwara State.
A 2013 USAID baseline study on the LAKAJI corridor, showed that it costs over $3,000 and takes approximately 12.5 days to send a 20-foot container from Jibiya in northern Nigeria to Lagos in the southwest. Conversely, it costs nearly $5,000 and takes approximately 19.5 days to ship a 20-foot container from Lagos to Jibiya.

The Sad Stories Behind the Extinction of Lemurs
Speculative demand in rosewood furniture, a heart wrenching humanitarian crisis, the criminal destruction of the natural environment and tourism potential of Madagascar, and the release of gigatons of carbon dioxide.

I figured that headline would probably gain at least two to three times more views.
Mota-Engil Begins Work on $1.8 Billion Nigeria-Niger Railway Bloomberg 2/9/2021 William Clowes
(Bloomberg) Mota-Engil SGPS SA, a Portuguese construction company, started work on a $1.8 billion railway line that will connect Nigeria with neighbor Niger.
Transport Minister Rotimi Amaechi concluded a contract with Mota-Engil last month on the 283-kilometer (176-mile) line from the northern trading hub of Kano to the town of Maradi on the other side of the Nigeria-Niger border.
The groundbreaking ceremony at the site of a proposed station in Makira town, Katsina state, Tuesday marks the latest phase of an expanding nationwide rail network intended to boost commerce in Africa’s largest economy and benefit its landlocked, northern neighbor. It’s also the first that isn’t driven by Chinese construction firms and banks, and will rely on European financing.
