day, but it is all cooking tonight. today in the united states senate, republican senators blocked new voting rights bill from even getting a hearing, from even getting a debate. all 50 democratic senators voted for the voting rights legislation. all 50 republican senators voted against it. but even if vice president harris had come in and given democrats 51 votes for it instead of 50, it still would not have passed. because republicans filibustered this bill which means it needs 60 votes to pass, not 50. that means it would have needed 10 republican senators to join with all 50 democrats in order to get this thing passed. i i know what you re thinking. i can read your mind through your television. right? you re thinking, of course the bill didn t get ten republican votes. of course republicans filibustered the voting rights bill. they filibuster everything. i mean, sure, if you still retain the ability to be shocked by anything, it is shocking that not a single republican would vote
