PENSACOLA, Fla. The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns jumped out to an early double-digit lead inside the Pensacola Bay Center and never looked back in Saturday’s game against South Alabama. HOW IT HAPPENED: Louisiana took control as the Ragin’ Cajuns started the game on a 9-0 run. Brandi Williams drained a three-pointer, which was followed by a free throw by Makayia Hallmon, another three-pointer by Williams and then a layup by Ty Doucet. South Alabama’s Devyn Lowe got the Jaguars on the board with a three-pointer. Even though six of their first eight shots were from beyond the arc, South Alabama only made one three-pointer in the first two quarters.

Louisiana hosted UT Arlington Monday afternoon and defeated the Mavericks 57-48 behind Ty Doucet’s game-high 21 points. This was the ninth straight win for the Ragin’ Cajuns. They are now 10-5 overall for the season and 9-1 in Sun Belt Conference play. How It Happened: Ragin’ Cajuns forward Kimberly Burton started the contest with an offensive rebound and second chance layup to put the team up 2-0. UT Arlington took their first lead of the game with 5:11 remaining in the first quarter. Shyia Smith’s layup gave the Mavericks a 7-6 lead.

Louisiana s Ragin Cajun women s basketball team earn their second consecutive conference sweep and 6th win in a row, defeating Texas State at the Cajundome on Saturday afternoon by the score of 66-60. The 6-1 Brandi Williams is referring to is the Ragin Cajuns record in Sun Belt play, good for first place in the West Division, and only a half-game behind Troy (7-1) for the best record in the conference overall. Ty Doucet led the way in scoring with 15, while Williams added 13. After becoming the 19th player in school history to score 1,000 or more points yesterday, Doucet became the third player in school history to record at least 100 blocks in her career.
