Oregon legislative session begins with multiple crises, calls to work together Keaton Thomas, KATU Staff Replay Video UP NEXT Oregon lawmakers met Thursday morning to begin the 2021 legislative session with calls to work together and a recognition they will have to address several crises at once. Virtual committee meetings began Thursday. Lawmakers in the House convened late in the morning. The Senate will convene Friday. Lawmakers acknowledged they will be dealing with several crises this session, including racial justice, last summer s wildfires, economic hardship, and the pandemic. Many of them are calling on each other to work together. We need to embrace our different values, our different opinions, and the solutions we bring to the table, said Rep. Ron Noble, R-McMinnville, at the start of Thursday s House session. We don’t always have to agree, but we do need to try and understand.
