Red Sox prospects: Jarren Duran christens Polar Park with two home runs, Connor Wong injured in WooSox home opener

WORCESTER Jarren Duran is going to like hitting in Polar Park. The much-ballyhooed Red Sox prospect launched two home runs to help make the first home game for Worcester a happy one, Tuesday.
It wasn’t as happy a day for Connor Wong who left with a hamstring injury. The catcher was being examined after the game with an update expected Wednesday.

Worcester Red Sox manager Billy McMillon didn’t read too much into the struggles Jarren Duran and Jeter Downs had in their first three games in Triple-A. He knew both top prospects would break out sooner than later and both did in Friday’s 4-2 win.

The two Worcester prospects with the most buzz going into the season are both still hitless after three games.
Jarren Duran fell to 0-for-11 with six strikeouts as a leadoff hitter in Thursday’s 10-1 loss to the Buffalo Bisons. Jeter Downs is 0-for-10 with four strikeouts. They’re in the No. 1 and 2 spots in the WooSox batting order respectively as they make an adjustment to Triple-A for the first time.
