Vietnam stopped over 13,200 people from entering, exiting Vietnam illegally in January-March

More than 13,200 people were found entering and exiting Vietnam illegally along the country’s borders with China, Cambodia, and Laos between January and March, according to the Border Guard Command. During the three-month period, border guard officers in Vietnam discovered a total of 2,447 border-crossing cases. In March alone, 1,127 people were caught illicitly traveling between Vietnam and Cambodia. Vietnamese authorities have begun legal proceedings against 61 of the violators, imposed administrative fines on 7,047, and put 11,811 in quarantine for COVID-19 prevention and control.

Vietnam, Cambodia’s border guard forces step up cooperation Thursday, 2021-02-04 15:45:50  Font Size:    Font Size:     |   NDO/VNA – An agreement on border defence cooperation was signed between the Vietnamese Ministry of National Defence’s Border Guard High Command and the Army Command of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces in Hanoi on February 3. Pursuant to the protocol on bilateral defence cooperation between the two countries for 2020-2024, the two sides are committed to strictly manage the shared border in accordance to the maps recognising the completion of 84% of the border demarcation and marker planting work. A joint press release between the two governments on January 17, 1995 continues to be applicable for border management along the sections where demarcation and marker planting have not been completed.

Vietnam, Cambodia bolster co-operation in border construction

Thursday, 12:08, 04/02/2021 VOV.VN - The High Command of the Border Guard under the Ministry of Defence of Vietnam, and the Army Command of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces on February 3 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on border defence co-operation.  The Cambodian delegation is headed by General Hun Manet, deputy commander of the Army Command of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces   Those in attendance at the signing ceremony included Major General Le Duc Thai, member of the Party Central Committee and Commander of the Border Guard, along with General Hun Manet, deputy commander of the Army Command of the Royal Cambodian Armed Forces, and Senior Colonel Nguyen Thanh Chinh, Vietnamese Defence Attaché in Cambodia.
