New Plan Promises To Unlock Potential Of Lake Eildon

VIC Premier A new Great Lake Touring Route, iconic walking trails, fine dining and more accommodation options are part of a new plan to take Lake Eildon to the next level as a tourist destination. Minister for Regional Development Mary-Anne Thomas joined representatives from Mansfield and Murrindindi shire councils, Goulburn Murray Water and Tourism North East today to launch the Lake Eildon Masterplan. The plan, supported by $150,000 from the Andrews Labor Government’s Regional Tourism Infrastructure Fund, has identified four “game-changers” for Lake Eildon that have the potential to unlock significant investment in tourism and enable Lake Eildon to become one of Victoria’s premier destinations.

New Projects Boost Victorian Tourism Industry And Jobs

VIC Premier The Andrews Labor Government is backing growth in Victoria’s nation-leading tourism offering with 30 new infrastructure projects to break ground across the state. From Rutherglen to Castlemaine and Swan Hill to Warburton, the $46 million investment in key local projects will create immediate jobs in construction and drive visitation and ongoing employment. Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Martin Pakula confirmed that the Regional Tourism Investment Fund – Stimulus Round included a landmark development at the Dandenong Ranges Botanic Gardens in Olinda – the recreation of Australian Garden by renowned Melbourne landscape designer Phillip Johnson. A $2.8 million investment will bring to life Johnson’s display that won the “Best in Show” at the famed Royal Horticultural Chelsea Flower Show in 2013. Big Appetite For Melbourne Events At Longest Lunch

VIC Premier The Andrews Labor Government has welcomed the return of Australia’s leading culinary event, the Melbourne Food & Wine Festival, to the state’s major events calendar. After the 2020 festival did not proceed due to the global pandemic, the 2021 festival includes an expanded program throughout the year across Melbourne and regional Victoria. Now in its 29th year, the festival kicks off today with the World’s Longest Lunch at Treasury Gardens with more than 1,650 people set to enjoy dishes from local masters Stephanie Alexander, Philippe Mouchel and Jacques Reymond. Guests will be supplied with a hit-list of post-lunch city bars to experience, which will help spread the benefits of the event to CBD businesses that are recovering steadily from the effects of the pandemic.
