Sua Pan based Botswana Football League (BFL) debutants, Sua Flamingoes, have appointed veteran Zimbabwean gaffer Rahman Gumbo as their head coach, replacing Major David Bright who succumbed to Covid-19 soon after joining the club.
In an interview on Friday, Sua Flamingoes Public Relations Officer (PRO) Lazarus Mafa said the club is confident of causing upset and leave no stone unturned during its premier league stay. Enthusiastic Mafa said that the team is assured of impressive run after hiring the experienced Zimbabwean tactician, Gumbo who previously won silver with Township Rollers and Gaborone United. “We were very saddened as the club when we lost Major David Bright before he could execute his plans for the team. The transfer business among clubs that was opened the beginning of last year December has finally been closed this past Friday.
With an anticipation of the return of action this year when the transfer window opened, it seems now it was not really worth it after all, said Kagiso Kgaogano, football analyst.
“Even though it was a slow transfer unlike the previous ones, a good number of teams have participated in this business. The only problem is that it ends without a league and clubs will never know if they made the right decision or not in their pick due to no play,” he said.
