Hall “was having a mental health crisis,” attorney Ben Crump said at a Wednesday press conference. Crump is known for high-profile civil rights cases, including representing the families of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor. “There is a suggestion that he was contemplating suicide. He was crying out for help. Christian Hall needed a helping hand, but yet he got bullets while he had his hands up,” Crump said.

A Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) employee was inspecting a nearby drain along Mulligan Hill Road when he found what appeared to be a body in a grassy area of the roadway, Trooper Clifford Greenfield said Friday in a news release. Indiana County Coroner Jerry Overman Jr. pronounced Green-Brewster dead at the scene and subsequently identified him as a resident of Philadelphia. An autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death was conducted Friday at ForensicDX in Windber. Final results of the autopsy and toxicology are not available due to ongoing examination and investigation.

Officers responded around 6:30 p.m., Dec. 27 to a report of shots fired in the area of Franklin Avenue and Dolbee Street Southeast, said the Grand Rapids Police Department. Upon initial investigation, police said they discovered a 28-year-old man with gunshot wounds in front of a residence in the 900 block of Thomas Street Southeast. The victim died on scene around 7 p.m. despite immediate life-saving efforts, police said. No suspects have been identified at this time, police said. Grand Rapids police detectives from the Major Case Team are investigating alongside the Forensic Services Unit, police said. The Kent County Medical Examiner’s Office is performing the autopsy.
