Der Klimawandel zeigt seine Auswirkungen: Sogenannte Extremwetterlagen werden häufiger. Und so hatte auch Bayern in den letzten Jahren oft mit Hochwasser zu kämpfen. Ein Beispiel: Die Flutkatastrophe in Niederbayern im Jahr 2016. Damals rauschte eine meterhohe Flutwelle durch Simbach am Inn, Autos wurden weggeschwemmt, Häuser liefen voll. Mehr als 5.000 Haushalte waren von der Flut betroffen, es entstand ein Sachschaden von rund 1,25 Milliarden Euro. Seit 2019 sollen sich die Bürger selbst versichern Die Hochwasser-Opfer konnten damals mit Soforthilfen vom Freistaat rechnen, wie eigentlich immer bei größeren Überschwemmungen. Das ist seit Anfang 2019 vorbei. Soforthilfe gibt es grundsätzlich nicht mehr, wenn jemand die Möglichkeit hatte, sein Haus gegen Hochwasserschäden zu versichern, aber das nicht getan hat. Das Ziel: Die Bürger sollten dazu gebracht werden, selbst vorzusorgen und Elementarschadenversicherungen abzuschließen.
