The two-day online International Quran Conference at the Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) concluded on Friday with some important recommendations to scholars working on Quranic exegeses.
The conference on ‘Contemporary Trends in Quranic Exegeses: Principles & Rules’ was organised by the Department of Quran and Tafseer, Faculty of Arabic and Islamic Studies.
The concluding session was chaired by Secretary Islamic Ideology Council Dr Hafiz Ikram ul Haq Khakwani, while Prof Dr Muhammad Baqir Khan Khakwani, ex-dean faculty of Arabic and Islamic Studies was the chief guest.
Two-day Int’l Quran Conference begins at AIOU

ISLAMABAD: The two-day International Quran Conference (online) began at Alla Iqbal Open University (AIOU) in Islamabad on Thursday.
The conference was organized by the Department of Quran and Tafseer at the Faculty of Arabic and Islamic Studies.
The inaugural session of the conference was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor AIOU Professor Dr. Zia Ul-Qayyum while the Dean at the Faculty of Islamic Studies in Peshawar University Professor Dr. Muhammad Hammad Likhvi was invited as the Chief Guest.
The Ex Dean at the Faculty of Principles of Religion in Egypt’s Al-Azhar University Muhammad Ur- Rasakhikh Almisri Alazhari conducted the plenary session on Contemporary Trends in Quranic Exegeses: Principles & Rules.
AIOU gives scholarships to Egyptian students, faculty members

Islamabad: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) gave ten scholarships to Egyptian university students and faculty members to learn Urdu language at AIOU on the annual basis.
To strengthen this mutual collaboration further, Egyptian government has made a principled decision to establish the Institute of Arabic language at AIOU.
In this regard, Egyptian Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. Tarek Dahrough, visited AIOU. He was accompanied by Amer us Syed Nasir ud Din Syed and Second Secretary of Egyptian embassy, Ahmad Rida.
On reaching AIOU, Egyptian delegation was given warm reception by Vice Chancellor AIOU Prof Dr. Zia Ul -Qayyum.
AIOU new time duration policy for educational programs

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) has designed a time-duration policy for the educational programs offered through open distance learning mode (ODL).
This policy will be effective from the Spring 2020 Semester and it would be applicable to the students seeking fresh admission in this Semester.
According to the details issued here on Friday, the minimum duration for the completion of matriculation and intermediate programs is two years (4 semesters) while the maximum duration would be five years.
On the other hand, the minimum duration for all post-graduate diplomas is one year (2 semesters) and the maximum duration is three years.
AIOU establishes Virtual Teachers Training Academy Portal

Islamabad: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) on Tuesday established the Virtual Teachers Training Academy Portal at the Lahore Regional Centre which will be available to teachers across the country.
Addressing the inaugural ceremony of the portal, AIOU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Zia Ul-Qayyum said that It would go a long way in eliminating physical barriers hindering the professional development of teachers.
The Virtual Teachers Training Academy Portal has been jointly envisaged and established by AIOU, JICA, and ALIGHT, Pakistan.
Speaking at the ceremony Provincial Minister, Raja Rasheed hoped that the Virtual Teachers Training Academy would help equipping teachers in far flung areas with the latest pedagogical skills and content knowledge leading to quality blended education of the pupils in non-formal schools and literacy.
