Beachbreaks can be a lot like gambling – you roll the dice, pray for the best. And longtime local charger Roger Ramirez went all in on Tuesday at Puerto Escondido although this time, the house won. (Though as evidenced at the end of the vid, he escaped relatively unscathed.)
In case you’ve been sorely out of the loop, Puerto’s been pumping for quite a while. Right now, there’s a series of swells set to hit the Mainland Mex sandbottom gladiator pit – the largest of which is slated to peak on Friday. It hasn’t been all-time although there have been some gems but there’s some guaranteed size (and more heroics, like the above from Ramirez) in store. According to Surfline’s Director of Forecasting, Kevin Wallis:

As hinted at last week, it does seem like the West Coast’s spring fling with Southern Hemi swell that kicked off April is in fact turning into a full-blown affair. And things are about to get pretty heated heading into this weekend, as the biggest south swell of the season so far is set to light up every south-facing nook and cranny from Peru to Canada. We caught up with Surfline Director of Forecasting Kevin Wallis for the details:
