(Mainichi/Shunsuke Takara) TOKYO The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) is calling for people to remain on their guard against heavy snow in areas extending from northern to western Japan through Jan. 10. The agency called for people to be wary of snowy and icy roads possibly hindering traffic, as well as the threat of avalanches and snow accretion. It issued cautions over heavy snow in the Hokuriku region in central Japan in particular, with possible transport disruptions and crop damage.
