On Sunday, June 25 close to 150 people attended a special French Mass and re-enactment ceremony for Maine Acadian Day and is held in honor of the Acadians landing and settling in Madawaska. The event was sponsored by the Madawaska and Grand Isle Historical Societies with help from the Acadian Festival Committee and the Maine Acadian Heritage Council.
The Acadian Archives/Archives acadiennes at University of Maine at Fort Kent will host singer Robert Sylvain on Thursday, October 13 in the UMFK Fox Auditorium at 6 p.m.
The University of Maine at Fort Kent Associate Professor of History and Education Dr. Paul Buck II will present on the “Webster Ashburton Treaty (1842) and Maine’s Northern Border” on Thursday, Aug. 18 at 7 p.m. at Musée culturel du Mont-Carmel in Lille, Maine. The event is free and open to the public.

Lise Pelletier, Hannah Pingree, and Julia Sleeper-Whiting were presented with the 2022 Deborah Morton Award, which recognizes distinguished Maine women who have made an exceptional impact through their careers and public service or leadership in civic, cultural, or social causes.
