Lura Wilson knew that she wanted to be an artist, but she wasn t sure what kind of artist. Growing up in Silver Bay, she was very involved in theater. From a young age, she acted in Prairie Fire Theater and Silver Bay Area Community Theatre productions and always loved being on stage.
At age 15, she moved to Minneapolis to attend the Main Street School of Performing Arts, where she focused on theater and dance. That same year, she went to her first music festival, The Winnipeg Folk Festival, where a performance lit a flame in her.

New COVID-19 cases have been reported in a Westchester school district that has been hit hard by the pandemic.
Irvington Schools Superintendent Kristopher Harrison announced on Friday, Jan. 22 that a member of the Main Street School tested positive for the virus, while another confirmed COVID-19 case was reported at the Irvington Middle School.
Harrison said that there is no need for anyone to quarantine due to exposure at the Main Street School, and anyone who may have been exposed to the individual that tested positive for COVID-19 in the middle school has been notified.
It was not disclosed whether the new infections were in students or staff members.

A Westchester high school is set to reopen for in-person learning this week despite a newly confirmed positive COVID-19 case in a student or staffer.
Irvington Schools Superintendent Kristopher Harrison issued an alert on Thursday, Jan. 14 advising that a member of the Irvington High School community has tested positive for the virus.
Despite the new case, Harrison announced that Irvington High School will be reopening for in-person learning, as scheduled, on Friday, Jan. 15.
Harrison said that anyone who may have been exposed has been notified by a school staff member during contact tracing.
“Individuals who had close contact with the positive case will be personally notified by a school staff member and provided with guidance as to how to proceed according to New York State Department of Health guidelines,” he wrote. “If one is not directly affected by the positive case, no such notification will occur. Main Street School in Irvington has been awarded the inaugural Super Ambassador School award and plaque from the Be a Friend Project. The school was recognized for its longtime, schoolwide dedication of administrators, staff and students as ambassadors in support of victims of bullying and its commitment to prioritizing kindness in education.
Under the leadership of
Principal Joyce Chapnick, fourth and fifth graders at Main Street School have been participating in Be a Friend Project’s “Friend Mail,” which brings peer support to young victims of bullying through deliveries of letters of hope, since 2017. In addition, for three consecutive years, the students have selected the Be a Friend Project as a recipient of their national antibullying month fundraising.
