Town Hall meeting was first step in new plan for Brookfield s downtown

A recent town hall meeting for Main Street Brookfield was the first step in developing a plan for the city s downtown.
Ben White, program and outreach specialist with Missouri Main Street Connection, said while he and other Missouri Main Street staff will help work alongside Brookfield volunteers, members of the Brookfield Area Growth Partnership (BAGP) and others, the development of ideas and establishment of a volunteer base is up to the residents of Brookfield. We are not here to tell you what to do, but help guide as the town develops a plan and volunteer base, White, who is the past director of Main Street Chillicothe said.

The National Main Street Center and Main Street Arkansas have awarded Main Street Eureka Springs a grant to conduct a strategic planning process to formulate a three-year road map to develop stronger programming, build new relationships and continue the economic development of Downtown Eureka Springs.
We are entering our 14th year as a Main Street program and it felt like the time to reignite our organization through a strategic plan. We want to provide the best possible service to the community and to do that we need to reengage with them in a meaningful way and we want to strengthen our focus on the Main Street Four Points, said Jacqueline Wolven, executive director of Main Street Eureka Springs.

A Saco ice cream and gathering place, a Skowhegan community leader and a Bath indoor park have all been recognized by the Maine Downtown Center, a program of the Maine Development Foundation, for revitalization efforts last year.
The annual Maine Downtown Center Awards recognize efforts to enhance and support downtown revitalization and particularly in 2020, in the midst of the pandemic recession and pursuit of racial justice.
The awards were presented in a virtual ceremony Thursday that featured a keynote speech by Stacy Mitchell, co-director of the Institute for Local Self-Reliance.
Award winners are:
Downtown Project Award: The Saco Scoop, a project of Saco Main Street that provides a community hub, sustainable funding source for the Main Street organization and workforce training. The combination ice cream shop and gathering place puts into practice the Main Street Four Point Approach economic vitality, design, promotion and organization
