Jared Jones struck out 11 over four scoreless innings in just his sixth career appearance, the highest single-game strikeout total by any Marauders pitcher this season. He combined with fellow right-hander Domingo Gonzalez (2-3) for 18 strikeouts, the most in a nine-inning game in team history.

BRADENTON, Fla. A trio of five-run innings and a dominant pitching performance by Santiago Florez out of the bullpen helped the Marauders overcome an early seven-run deficit en route to an 18-11 win over the Palm Beach Cardinals on Wednesday night at LECOM Park.
Rehabbing Pirates right-hander Jose Soriano started the game for the Marauders (11-9) by giving up back-to-back singles. Soriano went on to allow three run-scoring hits and saw another run cross on a passed ball, and after retiring just two of 10 Palm Beach batters, the righty was lifted from the game with two outs and a seven-run deficit in the first inning.

One of those prospects, right-hander Miguel Yajure, has made a great first impression on the Pirates. Per Pittsburgh Tribune-Review:
“The thing that I really like out of him is his ability to execute four pitches,” Pirates manager Derek Shelton said. “He throws the ball around the plate. He goes after guys. . (The Yankees) said really positive things about him about the kid, about his ability to command the baseball, about his ability to stay on the plate. And that’s something that’s extremely important to us, and he’s shown that so far in his bullpen, his live (batting practice sessions) and in games.”
