Steve Harper steps down from Northern Ireland goalkeeping coach role
Steve Harper has taken up a full time post as Newcastle United Academy Manager and will step down from his role as goalkeeping coach for the Northern Ireland senior men’s team.
Harper joined under Michael O’Neill’s reign in March 2019, replacing Maik Taylor, and bowed out after the friendlies’ versus Malta and Ukraine this summer racking up 20 games in total as part of the backroom team.
Steve was quick to praise his time with Northern Ireland:
“I’ve loved every minute of my time with Northern Ireland and have worked with an incredible team on and off the pitch. Everyone works collaboratively, and tirelessly, and it has been a joy to be a part of.

Town s reserves lost 2-0 against Fulham last night. TWTD has been sent two reports, one from Dan Botten and one from Julian Marjoram. Cheers. Here s Dan s, then Julian s.
Ipswich Town Reserves went down 2-0 to Fulham in monsoon-like conditions at Woking FC.
Substitute Darren Bent spurned two excellent chances in the second half, as Ipswich looked to level up Tom Hutchinson s early strike for the
hosts.
Fulham s Stewart Noble scored the decisive second goal late on to kill off Ipswich s plucky challenge.
Both sides featured players looking to force their way into the Premiership encounter a week today at Portman Road. No-one really stood out for Ipswich although Janie Clapham had a good game at left back and Wayne Brown would have impressed any watching scouts. Fabian Wilnis,
Fulham 0-0 Town Tuesday, 28th Dec 1999 17:55
A rather boring Boxing Day lunchtime saw a bore draw of the most tedious kind. Chances were few and far between, although Town probably had the best of it over all.
The Blues lined up as they had in the previous game with the exception of Fabian Wilnis taking Mick Stockwell s place at right wing-back.
Early on the wind was preventing much decent football being played. Luckily for the Town fans on an open terrace the weather wasn t too severe.
Both sides had their chances with Town s best opportunities falling for David Johnson and Jamie Clapham in the first half and from Fabian Wilnis in the second. Both Clapham and Johnson mised the target when they should have done better whilst Wilnis pulled an excellent save from Maik Taylor in the Fulham goal.
