What we’ve learned from Woodford
Coincidentally,
Money Marketing had been perusing the new book on the fall of the Woodford empire by journalist David Ricketts.
It’s quite the ride, charting Woodford’s trajectory all the way from what was Maidenhead Grammar School to the moment when his funds were suspended and his business subsequently folded.
Several factoids were new to us and certainly made for entertaining reading, including: Woodford would frequently scream at the walls of his gym when he worked out during his lunch break; neighbour Jeremy Paxman, of BBC fame, was one of the local residents who objected to his plans to build an extravagant estate; the contents of his father’s will; and Woodford’s amorous relationship with the secretary who was to become his wife.
