YOUNGSTOWN The Mahoning Avenue Bridge just west of downtown reopened Tuesday morning after repairs to a pier column under the bridge were completed last week.
Ray Marsch, spokesman for the Ohio Department of Transportation, said Interstate 680 under the bridge remains reduced to one lane of travel in each direction, but it will reopen to four lanes of travel this evening.
The pier column was damaged badly in a Jan. 11 crash involving a semi tractor-trailer and a car near the Glenwood Avenue exit, closing the bridge and reducing traffic to one lane each way.
