Tajul for making UPs accountable for people’s betterment 151 DHAKA, June 9, 2021 (BSS) – Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Md Tajul Islam today called for making all the Union Parishads (UPs) of the country accountable by empowering them. “If we can bring the Union Parishads under accountability and transparency through empowerment in a concerted effort then there is no need to take loans from development partner countries or institutions or banks for development,” he said. He was speaking at the inaugural function of a training workshop for auditors engaged in auditing the financial activities of the Union Parishad at the auditorium of the Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE) in the capital as the chief guest.
