J&Kâs Export Cell & Invest India conducts virtual workshop on âOne District One Productâ for products from J&K
JAMMU: With an ongoing initiative to promote and develop Jammu and Kashmirâs export ecosystem, Export Cell (JKTPO), under the aegis of Department of Industries & Commerce, organized a workshop on âOne District One Productâ with broad participation from Handicraft & Handloom, Agriculture and Horticulture Departments, District Industries Centers and other line departments.
The virtual session was organized by JKTPO in partnership with Invest India. The agenda was to understand and explain the objective, execution strategy and the authenticity concerns of the ODOP products from Jammu and Kashmir.
Srinagar: The leading Kashmir based exporters had a meeting with the Additional Director General, (ADG) Foreign Trade (FT) Ministry of Commerce, Govt. of India, Smt. Suman Sharma at SKICC and discussed varied issues of their interest.
The exporters put forth solid suggestions before the visiting dignitary for arresting the decline of exports from Kashmir Valley. Exporters of the Valley strongly registered the withdrawal of the MEIS scheme that has been replaced with RODTEP, where rates have not be notified till date and the valley based exporters are facing huge problems on this account.
The valley based exporters reiterated the problem they are facing on account of GST that has been imposed on various handicraft items exported from Kashmir. The visiting dignitary was also of the opinion that the Handicrafts Sector being 75% labour oriented should have a friendly GST pattern. The exporters also demanded a separate ITC (HS) code for Pashmina.
Srinagar: Jammu & Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO) in association with Consulate General of India Toronto, Canada & Indo Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC) has organized a virtual meet aimed to increase the export of Handicrafts and Handloom items to Canada by creating more avenues of trade.
The virtual meet was attended by Ms. Apoorva Srivastava, Consul General, Consulate General of India Toronto, Mr Vijay Thomas, President, Indo Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC), Ms. Anoo Malhotra , Managing Director, J&K Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO), Mr Mahmood Ahmad Shah , Director Handicrafts & Handloom, Kashmir and Vikas Sharma, Director, Small and Medium Enterprise (SME), ICCC along with senior officials from the Govt of J&K. & CGI, Toronto, and eminent members of the Handicraft and Handloom exports and import community.
Kashmir Wicker Products Now Available Online
SRINAGAR: Kashmir Willow Wicker products are set to attain new heights through e-commerce platforms like Amazon, Myntra etc. under the World Bank funded Jhelum Tawi Flood Recovery Project (JTFRP).
For the Willow Wicker Project Ganderbal, domain expert having vast experience in working with natural plant fibres -KADAM has been engaged for the development of the Cluster. The project will lead to creation of self -sustaining Producer Company (PC) of the artisans that would be directly linked to the markets.
Director Handicrafts and Handloom Kashmir, Mahmood Ahmad Shah along with Assistant Director AD Handicrafts Ganderbal today visited the cluster and under took an overall assessment of the project.
