We considered all equity and equity-oriented categories such as large cap, mid cap, small cap, large & mid cap, multi cap, flexi cap, focused fund, ELSS, value, contra, aggressive hybrid, equity savings, balanced advantage and dynamic asset allocation, and arbitrage fund categories for the study.
While mid-cap mutual funds carry a significant amount of risk, certain funds have delivered strong one-year returns. Notably, Nippon India Growth Fund and Mahindra Manulife Mid Cap Fund have generated higher returns than popular indices like Nifty Midcap 50 and S&P BSE MID CAP
We considered equity categories such as large cap, mid cap, multi cap, large & mid cap, focused fund, small cap, value & contra fund. We did not consider flexi cap schemes as these schemes were introduced three years ago, after Sebi recategorised mutual funds. We considered regular and growth option schemes.
