Silchar: Two persons, including a woman, were arrested with around 600 grams of suspected heroin valued at around Rs 3 crore during a joint operation .
A youth died on the spot after his bike collided with a road divider on Belagavi College Road on Monday morning. The victim was identified as Pankaj, 24, of Macche village of Belagavi taluk. He sustained grievous injuries when his bike lost control and hit the divider. Another youth, who sustained minor injuries, is being treated. A case has been registered at Khade Bazar police station.
One person died and another received injuries when they came in contact with a high voltage power cable on Undera Road on Friday. The incident occurred when two contractual workers were carrying a metal ladder that was very high. One of them died due to burns, while the other was admitted to the hospital. Police registered a case of accidental death.
An 11-year-old school student died and another student was injured in a road mishap in Cachar district's Kalain. The incident occurred on the Silchar-Kalain road. The local residents protested by blocking the road, but the situation was resolved.
