Emphasising the importance of raising awareness and fostering international cooperation, the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of Bangladesh with support of UNODC and the Counter Trafficking in Persons Technical Working Group (CTIP-TWG) of Bangladesh UN Network on Migration convened a pivotal national dialogue to observe the World Day against Trafficking in Persons 2023.
Only one person was convicted in a human trafficking case in Bangladesh in 2020, according to a UN report highlighting the concern over low convictions of the crime.
