Pritom Das, a leader of left-leaning organisation Rashtra Sangskar Andolan, walked out of jail on bail yesterday, 131 days after he was arrested in a case filed under the Digital Security Act on for "hurting religious sentiment".

On one hand, there were at least 22 incidents of Hindu religious sites being attacked this year. On the other, there were at least seven incidents in which members of the minority community were sued or arrested under the Digital Security Act or other laws for "hurting religious sentiments".
Forty-nine eminent personalities of the country have demanded immediate and unconditional release of those arrested under Digital Security Act, including Pritam Das, and also withdrawal of the cases against them.
