Now, Maharashtra allows buying of food, essentials for only 4 hours daily
The Maharashtra government on Tuesday announced that all essential buying of food items shall be permitted for only four hours daily till May 1 in order to break the chain of coronavirus. The new restriction will come into effect from 8 pm today (April 20) and remain effective till 7 am on May 1.
The order was issued by the Disaster Management and Relief and Rehabilitation department.
 All grocery, vegetable shops, fruit vendors, dairies, bakeries, confectioneries, all types of food shops including chicken, mutton, poultry, fish and eggs, shops related to agricultural implements and farm produce, pet food shops, shops related to materials for impending rainy season will remain open from 7 am to 11 am, said the order.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray had last week hinted at the imposition of an extended lockdown in the state to curb the surge in COVID-19 cases.

MUMBAI: In view of the surge in Covid-19 cases, chief minister Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday announced new guidelines for the state. The new norms will be implemented from 8pm on Monday. Also, a complete lockdown will be imposed on weekends.
The following are the fresh restrictions issued by the state government:
Curbs Complete lockdown on weekends 8pm Friday to 7am Monday only essential services allowed. Night curfew (from 8pm to 7am) throughout the week, can step out only for emergency/essential work. During the day, gathering of 5 or more persons not allowed (Section 144 of Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC)).
