All schools in Raigad district will remain shut on 26th July due to heavy rains. The area has been put on orange alert by the IMD. The NDRF team has already called off its rescue operations on the landslide-hit Irshalgad which claimed 27 lives. Maharashtra CM has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh to the families of the deceased. He also visited the site of the tragedy and took stock of the relief and rescue efforts, and apprised PM Modi of the situation in the state caused by incessant rainfall.
A 17-year-old boy, who was critically ill and in urgent need of medical treatment, was rescued from a remote village cut off by flood waters in Maharashtra's Chandrapur district in a joint effort by the locals and authorities.
