Before ODI at Gahunje stadium, protesters shout ‘England go back’

While the
England cricket team will play three One Day Internationals (ODIs) at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Gahunje later this month, drama has started before their arrival. Chaos was witnessed on the premises this week when five men trespassed and began shouting slogans of “England go back”.
Protesters from Kolhapur-based Shivdurg Sanvardhan Andolan demand that the Bhavani talwar (sword) of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, reportedly gifted by Shivaji Raje IV to the Prince of Wales, be brought back to India. They intruded on Monday and on Tuesday, cops arrested all five. Subinspector Dattajirao Mohite of Talegaon Dabhade police station (PS) said, “The accused forcefully entered the stadium when not many staffers were present. They held some flags and shouted ‘England go back’.”
