The Maharashtra government will extend the lockdown-like curbs in the state after June 1 to stem the spread of coronavirus and relax them later in a phased manner, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray said today.
Uddhav Thackeray issued necessary directives in this regard to the state administration during a cabinet meeting, said a statement issued by the Chief Minister s Office (CMO).

The weekend saw a steady flow of passengers on long-distance trains originating from different stations in the metropolis.
Amid talk of a complete lockdown in Maharashtra to arrest the COVID-19 surge, the passenger rush on outstation trains in Mumbai has increased since the last weekend, Railway sources said on Monday. The Railway administration, however, attributed the passenger rush to the summer season which sees a large number of people travelling to their native places.
The sources said though the rush on outstation trains has gone up since the state government announced fresh COVID-19 curbs earlier this month, the weekend saw a steady flow of passengers on long-distance trains originating from different stations in the metropolis.

Mumbai: Amid coronavirus restrictions in Maharashtra, a huge crowd gathered as Maharashtra minister Sanjay Rathod’s convoy reached the Pohradevi temple in the Washim district of the state. Visuals from the scene show the police resorting to baton-charge to disperse the crowd.
Responding to the incident, Vasant Pardesi, SP, Washim district, said that despite warnings and appeals, around 8,000 to 10,000 people gathered near the Pohradevi temple, violating COVID-19 related rules. A case has been registered against them.
