Containment operations sub-optimal in Maharashtra districts: Central teams
The Central teams deputed in Maharashtra to coordinate the response to the coronavirus pandemic have observed that containment operations were sub-optimal in Satara, Sangli and Aurangabad districts, says a report sent by the Centre to the state government. The teams found less than satisfactory perimeter control and lack of active surveillance in COVID-19 cases, the report sent by the Union Health Ministry said. Efforts at surveillance and contact tracing were found to be sub-optimal in Buldhana, Satara, Aurangabad and Nanded, mostly due to limited manpower engaged in this task.
The team from Bhandara has reported that most cases are being reported from outside of containment zones, the report said.

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday said in view of the rising COVID-19 cases, religious, social and political gatherings will be prohibited in the state from Monday.
Pawar, whose party is an ally of the ruling Maha Vikas Aghadi in the state, in a tweet said, I have cancelled all my scheduled public programmes in view of the rise in COVID-19 cases and the appeal made by the honourable chief minister and deputy chief minister.

Maharashtra: CM Uddhav Thackeray warns of lockdown again as Covid cases rise in state
As Maharashtra has witnessed hike in coronavirus cases in the last few days, chief minister Uddhav Thackeray warned that the state government will reimpose a lockdown if Covid-related norms are not followed.
CM Thackeray said that if people did not follow social distancing and wear mask, another lockdown may follow. Â
âPeople have become carefree. It is for the people to decide if they want a lockdown or want to continue living with the small restrictions like now,â said Thackeray, while directing local administrations to crack down on citizens and establishments that are found violating Covid-19 norms and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

A day after reporting 4,092 COVID-19 cases, highest single-day tally in more than a month, Maharashtra saw the daily count fall on Monday but it remained above 3,000 for the sixth straight day as the state government termed the situation as alarming and warned of harsh decisions after the recent spike.
Describing as alarming the recent rise in fresh cases in some districts of Maharashtra, Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar expressed displeasure over people not following COVID-19-related guidelines.
