PITTSFIELD â A City Council subcommittee has signed off on a request from Mayor Linda Tyer to spend $960,000 to install public water and sewer along Dan Fox Drive.
The councilâs Community and Economic Development Committee unanimously approved Tyerâs order seeking the allocation from the General Electric Economic Development Fund, sending the matter back to the full council for consideration.
The money would be used to expand the cityâs sewer and water service on Dan Fox Drive to the Bousquet Ski Area, allowing Mill Town Capital to proceed with development plans, including construction of a new lodge and setting the stage for future development in the area, said Community Development Director Deanna Ruffer.
PITTSFIELD, Mass Hikers can now enjoy a new access trail to Mahanna Cobble that is open during the winter. Berkshire Natural Resources Council, Bousquet Mountain and Mill Town Capital on Wednesday re-opened the improved trail to the cobble, a conservation reserve owned and managed by BNRC. BNRC appreciates a strong partner in Bousquet Mountain and Mill Town as we seek to offer improved hiking experiences close to community centers, year-round. We are thrilled to finally have four-season access to this beautiful new trail and destination in central Berkshire, BNRC President Jenny Hansell wrote in a press release. Thanks to the generosity of Mill Town and Bousquet Mountain, we have another great new option for winter hiking in the Berkshires.
Hiking Access Trail To Mahanna Cobble Re-Opening January 13
On Jan. 13, Berkshire Natural Resources Council, Bousquet Mountain, and Mill Town welcome the re-opening of the improved hiking access trail to Mahanna Cobble.
According to a news report from WTEN/10 News Albany, the hiking access trail to Mahanna Cobble, from the base of Bousquet Mountain. Mahanna Cobble is a conservation reserve owned and managed by BNRC.
The Mahanna Cobble Trail is a 1-mile long single-track trail with switch-back turns and stone steps. The total distance is 3.2 miles for an out-and-back trip.
Hiking and snowshoeing to Mahanna Cobble, a south-facing natural destination atop Bousquet Mountain is free and open to the public.
